Wearable Structure
In this workshop we were asked to start experimenting about our wearable structure. In this we can play around the different techniques and sessions we have done in the past few weeks.
The workshops we have done so far are
- Paper modelling on stand
- Paper manipulation
- Chair sculptures
- Garment sculpture on stand
- De-constructed tailored jacket
- Silhouette with chair
- Pleating
- Draping
In each of this session is very beneficial so that it can create interesting different silhouette's by using chair and unusual materials such as mutton cloths.
In a exhibition I visited in the Barbican Art Gallery celebrating the 30 years of Japanese Fashion. Amongst famous fashion designer was Issey Miyake's work which really inspired me. His designs are structured and strong.
I decided to use a mixture of De-constructed jacket and draping with my work and a bit of pleating. So in this session, I experimented around with this techniques and draped them into the stand.
This images above are initial designs exploring the mixture of my chosen techniques. Overall, I find this exercise very interesting and I am considering this to use on my final garment design.
